Are you aware that Alexander Duncan's son, Alexander (b. 1908, Montrose) migrated to Australia around 1928.  He was a handy player at what we call soccer and you call football.  So handy, that he played for AUstralia on a handful of occasions in the 1930's - a time when Australia only played a handful of matches in any case.  He married Kathleen Jean STILLARD in 1943 and served in the Australian Army during WWII.  He died in 1979.  While I knew that he lived in Victoria for most of his life, I never recall meeting him or his wife.

I wasn't aware of this David, so thanks for that additional information.  I'm heading out for today and most of tomorrow but I'll look more closely when I have time back at my computer.

Interesting about the football (soccer) connection.  My Ist cousins son is James Forrest that plays for Glasgow Celtic and Scotland at the moment.  Jim's young brother Alan plays for Ayr United.  Both very good players.

Of interest - a 2nd cousin (also in the Forrest) was David Taylor, who was President of the Scottish FA and went on to leading roles with EUFA.

My apologies for delay, David.  I was engrossed in some other research, and then I was laid up with the flu since.

I've now checked what other records I have and unfortunately I don't have any other information to add to what I've mentioned before.  This particular Forrest family are unrelated to me and it's unlikely that I'll be looking at them again any time soon as I'm following up some new leads on my own direct Forrest family.

As a matter of interest, have any of the male Forrests in your line ever taken a DNA test?

Shame that there is not a connection.  Never mind, diversity is important.

To my knowledge there is only one Forrest descendant in my tree, other than me in Australia.  Neither of us has had a DNA test.

Are you actually a Forrest then?

I recently did the DNA test with Ancestry.com and got some useful connections on both my paternal and maternal lines.  I also transferred those resuts to FTDNA (free transfer) and paid an extra 20USD to upgrade to FTDNA's Family Finder - more results, not on Ancestry.

On FTDNA I joined the Forrest/Forrester project and have now linked to a couple of other Forrests with matching Y-DNA, one in Australia.

It's all this that is keeping me busy.  The Y-DNA links suggest I have a common Ancestor with the other Forrests 500 years ago - the fun is trying to work out the connection.

It's something you might want to consider.
