Hi Linda
Thanks Linda you are quite right he was John b1811 Willson's brother he was the oldest of six. Do you have any pictures of the Willson or Tate family, the reason I ask is because I have an old album of photo's of the family some of which I cannot identify. I have some of John b1811  and the auctioneers shop in Alford and one I think of his father so if you have any I would appreciate a look at them to see if I can match any to the ones I have. You are welcome to any copies of the ones I have that you want.

What is the story behind Mary Ann Wydell? I have not come across her was she a another wife?

Dear Linda
I am descended from William Willson Houghton the illegitimate son of
William Tate Willson and Hetty Houghton who was born in 1848.
I have only just found your posts on various forums / fora ??
and am hoping you have some info about any other such children you
may be able to share.  I have read somewhere he was called Henry Willson Wydell
born to a Mary Ann Wydell but not sure if it was in your post or someone else's.
I believe it may have been you who responded to my cousin ( Alan Lindsay Whyte )
who is now sadly departed. I have only been researching our HOUGHTON
line for a couple of months and had no idea he had made any progress in this direction.
with all good wishes
Sue Whyte

Dear Linda, I live in New Zealand.  Alan Lindsay Whyte is my 3rd cousin.  I have been searching for living relatives for sometime.  Alan contacted my father in the 1980's about the family tree.  I have copies of the letters he wrote.  My father passed away in 1987.  In these letters he mentions photographs he has of my grandmother and her siblings.  Do you know what happened to Alan's research after his death?  I would like to contact his sister but so not know where she is.  I hope you can help me.  Kathy
