« on: Sunday 13 March 11 20:53 GMT (UK) »
Hello All

Have been told that the old KELLY homestead in Mercer had been turned into a Museum for the area. If so any ideas where and is it on the Internet, Tried google , guess not using the right words.

It has to exist as there was security job going there a while back, but the "Mercer Museum" is not on the Museums of NZ website.

I wonder if the Waiuku Museum could help or is the same one?

They are the only one that appears on the Franklin District Council website.

Alternatively the I-site has been helpful to me in the past, so may turn up something else for you?

Would the homestead have been in Kelly Road?  Do you know the number?  Could google maps help you zoom in and find out something more?

EDIT: Forget that idea as Kelly Road is not mapped.

All I was told that Kellyville / Kellyville  Rd was named after them. Whether that's true or not.

The William KELLY that you mentioned is not the one I am after.

The KELLY'S are Thomas & Honora KELLY from Ireland, buried in the Mercer Cemetery along with a son, do have plot numbers for them.
According to there D.C. had three children
Daughter & Husband plus children went to Brisbane - in contact with this line as they are wanting information on the KELLY'S.
A son in Mercer - tracing this line a present
Another son name not known at present.
Not sure if the KELLY'S had children in Ireland or just NZ

Am going through all my discs, Archives, cemetery's etc.

Heard an interview about it a while back on Nat.Radio - not sure if it's open yet.

Would now be in Waikato District, not Franklin.

Think it's in the newly painted white villa by the monument at Mercer.
