John Sutherland / Louisa Thomson

Hi,
I am researching John Sutherland born Wick 13/03/1786, died Wick 15/03/1877, married Louisa Thomson, Wick,12/01/1811.
I am having trouble identifying the birth and death for Louisa Thomson.
Also with the Birth and death for his father, John Sutherland, and mother, Christian Bain, (married  02/12/1784)

Can anyone help? I have exhausted SP for answers.

can you give us some of the details on john's death cert. ?
does it name his wife and occupation ?
there is a family that might fit on the 1841 and 1851 census at hempriggs wick
but john and louisa are not there in 1861

Hi Ev,
1841 and 1851 at Hempriggs.
1861 alone at Brough, 1871 with daughter Elizabeth Dunnet at Brough.
Occupation is given as servant, stone mason and shoemaker (also farmer by his children)

He died at Hempriggs, shoemaker, widow of Louisa Thomson, parents John Sutherland (farmer) and Christina Bain.

Had 9 children, 7 migrated to Australia.

can't see any birth or death record for louisa thomson

going by the 1841 & 1851 census we have louisa thomson born c1791 wick
caithness , died c1853(?) since she doesn't appear on the 1861 census or
on official death records from 1855 onwards

does the marriage in 1811 reveal any place names for the bride ?
could that identify the family

Hi Ev,
Unfortunately there is no revealing info on the marriage record.
"Sutherland. John in South Killimster was matrimonially contracted to Louisa Thomson in Harland. Cautioners John Cormack in Wick & Donald Harrold in Gillock"

SP has no parish records for deaths/burials, in Caithness, for the period 1800 to 1854.
No records kept? or they have not been transcribed?

I have assumed that the only info might come from a tombstone!!!!!

A contributer to RootsWeb gives Louisa's birth and parents but does not specify a source.
