I am also researching this family I am directly descended from the Georgina Forrest born c1846 d1914
I have results of the 1861 census for Parish 629- Carluke Lanarkshire ie 10 years earlier
George Forrest 44, Born Lamington Lanarkshire
Isabella W Forrest 45, Born St Quivox, Ayrshire
James Forrest 22, Born Pettinian Lanarkshire
William W Forrest 19, Born Shotts Lanarkshire
John Forrest 14, Born Carluke Lanarkshire
George Forrest 12, Born Carluke Lanarkshire
Margaret J Forrest 12, Born Carluke Lanarkshire
Alexander Forrest 9, Born Carluke Lanarkshire
Robert Forrest 6, Born Carluke Lanarkshire
As you can see Georgina my ancestor is not on the census but looking from one census to the other I am fairly confident that this is the same family. The rest of the ages match up and it was not unusual for a 16 year old to be working else where and not on the census at the family residence.
George Forrest is stated as being a coal miner on the marriage certificate of Georgina to Thomas Brown.
So I am working on the presumption that as a coal miner that George moved around a lot following work. This would account for the different birth places of the children. I have George Forrest born in Lamington in 1817 and that would make him 44 on the 1861 census.
There also appears to be twins George and Margaret. Other leads I have further back in the tree also have twins but still to firm this all up.
So how do you tie in. I would love to know.
