Hi Garlands
You have done well to get back that far
you are now in lucky territory, where register quality bcomes very poor and holes in pages etc exist
there is an 1864 boy here:
http://freepages.misc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~althea/Breage%20Baptisms%20from%20IGI%201657%20to%201675%20sort%20by%20surname.htm

Otherwise browse mt transcriptions to see name possibilities
http://freepages.misc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~althea/index.html

WConnect have a few trees, but I can't seem to access the pages at present to see what other researchers have found

Althea,
Many thanks for the leads. I've picked up many new names and now have to sit down and see how many of them I can add to my tree.
Your transcriptions really are most useful.
Thanks again

Hi George

I've managed to get to Cornwall  :)

I think we may share an ancestor somewhere.

In my tree an 'offshoot' from my main maternal ancestry is a lady called LOVEDAY GONINAN bn 1759 to John Goninan and Mary Sobey.

Prospective parents that I can find for John Goninan both originate 20 miles from Falmouth in Breage.

John Goninan son of Edward and Ann (born 1731)  or
John son of John and LOVEDY (1736) ~ I am leaning towards this because of naming patterns in families  ~  John and Mary name their children John, Loveday and Mary.

Will follow on with a Tippett post.

Claire,

I have both John's in my tree:-

1.  John GONINAN bap 08 Jun 1731, parents
            Edward GONONAN b 04 Jul 1697, bap 18 Jul 1697, Breage; m 27 Aug 1719 in Helston to
Ann CARTER bap 29 Mar 1692, Germoe

I have their parents and one set of grandparents -would you like to have them?

2.  John GONINAN bap 17 Aug 1736, Breage, parents
John GONINAN bap 06 May 1702, Breage, m 30 Nov 1735, Breage to
Lovedy HOSKIN, bur 13 Apr 1781, Breage

John (1702) is the brother of Edward (1697) so, again, I can go a bit further back if you wish.

Edward GONINAN (1697) is my 5x great grandfather.

Let me know how you want to proceed.

Incidentally, I think we should open a new topic for our TIPPET links so that we can tap into other people's interests Shall I start or will you?

Regards

George

Hi George,

Thank you for the extra info regarding the GONINANS in our tree. I am going to proceed at the moment with John GONINAN and Loveday HOSKINS as prospective parents for 'my' John. I am intrigued at Loveday HOSKINS whose family I am going to look into. I have a couple of Hoskins/Hosking men in my tree elsewhere, it will be interesting to see if they are related to Loveday  in some way.

Any info regarding the Goninans would be helpful, thank-you.

I'll let you do the honours starting a new Tippett Topic  :)

I'm excited  :D

Hi George,

Gosh what a morning I've had. Loveday Hosken does fit into my Hoskin/Hosken line. Her brother Benedictus had a son Benjamin. This Benjamin had a son Benjamin also. He married into the Luce family of Saltash, which is my main ancestral line.

I did say they were an offshoot - but in family terms Edward Goninan 1697 would be the brother of John (1702) who is the 1st Great Grand Uncle of my 1st cousin 6 x removed. Gosh, that's a bit of a mouthful !

I'm off to work now but will be back later. We do share some ancestors, however remote, so I feel I have to share some interesting history that the Luce family have, as they will now be some ancestors of yours however remote.

Best wishes,

Claire
