i have found it just as hard looking for the right mordecai, over here, so i know how you feel, you would think with a name like mordecai it would be relatively easy to find out.. not so!
 good luck with your search, will let you know if i find out anything myself. though dave jones looks like he may be able to help you.

I was really interested to see this post, as only last week I was given details of a marriage between a JOHN WALTERS and ALICE MORT.  This couple were both from Margarm and married there in 1816.

I read quite a bit about Mort/Mordecai on the internet, but haven't had time to work out whether any of them are linked to Alice yet.

I'd love to hear from anyone who thinks she might belong to their Mort/Mordecai family.

I posted this elsewhere on RootsChat earlier today concerning MORDECAI, which followers in this section may find helpful. You can contact me through the links given, if you prefer.

"I now have a proven paper trail and atDNA match to two children of my 6xGGPs Hopkin MORDECAI / MORDECAY aka MORT & his wife Ruth of Glamorgan.
As this is a unique match, no other related MORDECAI descendants have done an atDNA test (Ancestry tree and DNA), however it does provide a helpful matching point for any other tester who thinks they may be related. I would be pleased to hear from anyone who has atDNA results to share. As a small concentrated population, it is assumed that there is a common C17th/C18th relationship. I have continued to collect all references in the hope DNA may provide the connection.
For those interested in atDNA stats, the match was at the 7C level on paper, proven by 12.3 cM of shared DNA.
