At Faringdon there is the baptisms of John Sansum 29-May-1692 and  another 18-Feb-1694.

Elizabeth who married John Day was the sister of my gtgtgtgtgrandfather.

I have yet to find anything on John Sanson/Sansom but its interesting he's listed on the administration (assuming it is his but I have nothing to doubt it as there is only one John Sansom in Shrivenham at that time) as a yeoman because I'm sure I've seen him refered to as a shepherd elsewhere.

 Maybe you saw it on the baptism's in Highworth, they both say that.  They also state Sevenhampton for where he lived.

Yes I knew I'd seen it somewhere.   Thankfully memory is working then.  And thanks for posting the images of the two baptisms.  I've only seen transcripts of Highworth to date.

Hhm, yes I'd got a note of those from when I started extracting Sanson/Sansom entries from the registers for the area, but not thought any further of it.

Interestingly, there is a burial in Farringdon of a John Sansom on 29 July 1735 (there are others too) which makes me wonder if perhaps our John did originate in Farringdon and if he may be that burial.  There is a later one in 1745 which could be his father.  Could really do with seeing the administration to see who else is mentioned.  I've an administration from Gloucestershire which was granted to my ancestor's widow, his step-son and what turned out to be his brother, with the same profession, but more importantly it gave the brother's place of residence which led me to my ancestor's baptism.   Sometimes you get lucky even with administrations.

As to the 1694 Farringdon baptism (the 1692 John was buried in the July of that year), its interesting that there is a marriage on 24 Jan 1719/20 there of a Anne Sansom and John Murcott.  No other details on the marriage but there are five baptisms to them in Farringdon where they are listed as of Little Coxwell, and in fact they are also entered in the Little Coxwell registers too.  I can't see a Joseph Murcott in Little Coxwell or Farringdon at that time which now makes me wonder if the 1727 Marriage Licence Transcript might have errors.  The transcript says the bondsman was Joseph Murcott of Little Coxwell?, now its possible that if they were querying the place of residence, I wonder if they may have got the first name of the bondsman wrong too.  Could it perhaps have been John Murcott who married Ann Sansom in 1719 standing surety for his brother in law?  Be nice wouldn't it as more evidence that the Farringdon family was correct.  Could do with seeing the original marriage bond that WSHC hold.
