christening record for st helier, please
« on: Friday 22 April 05 08:57 BST (UK) »
hello,
i am looking for a christening record, to find out who robert benham's parents were.

robert benham was born on the 15th february 1799 in st helier, so i am hoping that he was christened around this time.

i suspect that his parents are william robert benham, born around 1768 in st helier and jeanne dolbel, who married in st helier  on the 2nd february 1793.

thankyou
with best wishes

Hi Felicity -

I have confirmed the details from the Jersey, St Helier baptisms transcription:

22 Fevrier 1799   Robert fils de William et Jean Dolbel
(Sponsors: Chas Millor O. le dit pere et Mse Eliz. Benham femme dudit Millor)

I couldn't find a baptism for William Robert Benham around 1768 in St Helier.  It is not a Jersey name - could he have been born in Engalnd?

I have found Jeanne Dolbel's baptism -
1 July 1767  St Helier
Jeanne Dolbel fille de Clement et Anne Le Sauteur
(Sponsors: Jean Le Gallais et Elizabeth Payne sa mere)
