Have a photograph of the Aldergrove.  Available from Hocken Library, Dunedin  and the New Zealand Yesteryears website.  Copy attached.

The Alexander Turnbull Library in New Zealand also has information on the Aldergrove.

I located the Registration Papers including the file number for the Aldergrove and sent it off to the UK National Archives per their own rules and instructions for an estimate for copying. 

Have received a e mail back telling me there was not  insufficient information provided. Geeze I could pull my hair out sometimes .. what is left of it!!

Not sure where to go now un less I follow the advice of the National Archives and visit the place.

it sounds about right for petty officialdom here why do anything easy if you can make it difficult , did they give you any indication what else they needed .
can you get any help from clip regarding what else tna would want .

This was their reply:-  "Thank you for contacting the National Archives with your request for an estimate for the cost of copies of records.

Unfortunately as there was insufficient information provided we are unable to process this estimate".

This despite me supplying the only information available .. their own file number!!

No they did not tell me what other information they needed other then make three suggestions to research and locate the information which seems to fly in the face of their own online information.  The same information I followed !!

I have e mailed back to request an explaination but don't expect a reply until after the weekend.

as i say so many times organisations pass you off with duff answers mostly because they don,t know all the ins and outs of the proper procedures why not re send the info with a covering note saying that you have sent all the necessary info that they ask for in there own website so if that isn,t enough what else do they need and you will comply with all due  haste if this doesn,t work , if you go to the home page look for contact us click on that on left hand side there should be complaints procedure go into that and leave a message .

What is the file number etc you asked the National Archives for? A file could consist of many documents but sometimes there are sub-files.
