children of James Black and Mary Anne Warren

Hi again,

No, nothing I'm not telling.

To recap:-

My relative Mary Ann Warren of Kiltenanlea Parish, Clonlara, a spinster in 1864 (m) James Black, Sub Constable of Police, with the address "Clonlara".  I know the parents and siblings of Mary Ann.

Fathers' names were John Warren, farmer (of Clonlara) and John Black, a land steward - but no address given.

I've searched for decades in vain but a friend recently found the couple in Oranmore and located their children.  She discovered that Mary Ann died very young, leaving husband James with the children.  It was this friend who told me where both Mary Ann and James was buried.

After this the trail goes cold...... so where did these kids end up?  I can't locate them back in Clonlara, or with a family member.

Any further suggestions welcome.

James and Mary Anne married in 1864 in Clonlara, Co Clare.  We know of at least four children born to this couple while they were living in Oranmore, Co Galway.  They were Elizabeth b 1865, John b 1866, Amelia & James born 1868.

It seems Mary Anne died young in 1869 and is buried in the CoI graveyard in Oranmore.  Six years later a James Black (her husband??) died and was buried in St Nicholas CoI Graveyard.  This couple left very young children and I would dearly love to know what became of them as I can't find any of them on the 1901 or 1911 census.

Do you have the death certificate for James Black. Is the death you refer to definitely Mary Anne’s husband?
It does seem odd that they would be buried in two different graveyards but I suppose it would depend on who organised the funeral.

Your  friend  told you where both Mary Ann and James was buried. How did she find out??

No, I don"t have Death Certs for either person.  However a friend, who is far more experienced in genealogy than me, located the couple in Galway, having children, then dying a few years apart.

I can see an 1875 death of a 46 year old James Black in Galway.

Should have added that the James Black death, in the 4th quarter of 1875 in Galway, is on Irishgenealogy.ie

Yes I have seen the death.
It may well be him but you won’t know unless you have the death details.

Unfortunately the cemetery details are not online but maybe in the National Library - I think
