The Francis family were at Cwrcoed farm in Bettws Evan in early 1850`s is there any way i can find out if it was rented or owned by the family?

You could try to find it on the Tithe map, it will give name of occupier, and landowner.
The maps are usually dated around mid 1840s
Census information is Crown Copyright (see: www.nationalarchives.gov.uk)
