McDowell/Patterson

I am looking for information on Robert Patterson or his wife Jane McDowall, I don't have much more information other than Jane had a son James born in Newtonards 1847 before she married Robert. James' surname later changed to his stepfather's name of Patterson. James married Harriet Louisa Snowdon born 1858 in Essex.

Can anyone help. Anything would be great.

There is a site w/a lot of Patterson info at rootsweb.          I think this is it:  http.freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/%7ewaughp/mine/p1.htm#;64          I have Patterson's in my family from Canada in mid 1800's but they started out in other places of course.    If that link is wrong try using the small letter  i  instead of the symbol  ;          I can't read my own writting sometimes and it could be either.

I am looking for any information on James McDowell or Patterson who was born 1846 in Newtonards.
His mothers name was Jane McDowall. His mother married Robert Patterson, but I don't know if he was James' father or not.
