Probably best not to keep quoting in each post as numerous quotes make the whole post too long and difficult to follow and remember not to post details of anyone who might still be living  ;)

Off to look up a few things in files here...

Think things have gotten very confused here  :-\

William Dempsey killed in Birmingham-
was he William Henry Dempsey? did he serve in WWI and was gassed in a fluke accident involving a dead horse?

Okay- you still have Dempsey relatives in Garvagh  :)

According to what his nephew said, William Henry Dempsey lived at Trinaltinagh, near railway, with an aunt and uncle and worked as boot/shoemaker before WWI. During the war he was burying dead horses (not a pleasant task) that had gotten gassed and one exploded, He survived the war, dying in an accident in England.

Here's William Henry Dempsey in 1901 with the aunt and uncle- age 15 so born c1886-
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Londonderry/Garvagh/Trienaltenagh/1519809

By 1911 aunt & uncle were living in Boveedy (still not that far from Garvagh)-
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Londonderry/Hervey_Hill/Bovedy/591544

Uncle William Dempsey married 21 Nov.1882 Finvoy Presbyterian Church, Co. Antrim, to Mary Jane Canning- his residence listed as Dirraw townland, Finvoy Parish-

I suspect that this is your William Dempsey's death-
Another possible death?
William H. Dempsey, age 74, died 1960 Birmingham district

Born c1886 so might be this William Henry Dempsey-

William Dempsey married 3 April 1933 Coleraine district to Rose McAtamney. GRONI will have the certificate available to view. If he was illegitimate then father's name unlikely to be listed.

If you want contact details for your relative in Garvagh send me a PM and I'll give you the details.

It has been interesting reading these updated posts and I can only add that this is one
brickwall that I couldn't break. I gave up with this line after finding NO marriage records
for William (aka Willie) Dempsey and Mary Taggart and No birth records for any of their and
her subsequent children especially knowing their names and their ages.

Unfortunately, this is one line of my family history that possibly will never be completely
satisfied. Who knows what the future will bring? I may return to it again one day.

Kind regards

Jim

Only births 100 years or older will be in GRONI's online database or scanned images on Irish Genealogy site.
