« on: Monday 04 April 11 15:51 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I'm hoping to find info on an Alexander McGuffie b abt 1821 Kirkmaiden and died 21 Dec 1891 Kirkmaiden, Married Mary McCulloch b abt 1821 in Kirkmaiden in 1845.

i think that they had 4 children James 1848, Alexander 1850, John 1854 and William 1859.

Looking for any info on possible parents for Alexander or whether any of the above appear on any graveyard inscriptions in Kirkmaiden.

thanks

Hi. You mention James McGuffie. I think he may have had a son called Alexander, born around 1880 ish. Alexander married into my family at the age of 40 in 1920. He married a widow, Margaret Gordon (nee Millar/Miller). She was my Great Grand Aunt.

Cheers

Ian Millar

Have you downloaded the 1891 death cert from Scotlands People?  It should show his parents names and mothers maiden name

Hi,

It's been a while since I made the original post.

CaroleW thanks, at some point last year I managed to download quite a lot of info from Scotland's people that has helped me build up a much better picture of the McGuffie/McGuffog tree.

Ian, James certainly has a son called Alexander, I have his birth as 1886. I haven't got much info on him at all apart from entries on the 1891 and 1901 census. It would be great if you could let me have a little more info about your Margaret Millar such as the year and POB and I'll try and fill in some more of the blanks to confirm that its the Alexander from my tree.

many thanks

Leon :)
