Thank You Louisa,  I had a contact from a relation that I never knew existed, he said that Lillian Mabel Adams, was in fact a Catholic Nun Sister Mary of the Blessed Imelda, she died in 1981 I even received Photos of her.  So that is one more mystery solved.  I thank everyone who helped.

Regards,
               Yonno :)

Hello again Yonno, reply received today, so hopefully I will be receiving a reply soon, watch this space

LM.

"Dear LM
I have at last managed to speak to someone about the Trophy you were asked about relating to John Edgar Adams.
The Scouting person I spoke to was involved in trying to track this down some time ago. He has asked me to forward your details to him so that he can fully explain to you directly.

Would you mind confirming that it is OK for me to pass your email address to him, he is bona fide "

COPIED IN IT'S ENTIRITY

Hi Louisa Maud
Are you related to this forum thread by any chance?? http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=525684.msg3849810;topicseen
I'm the same person mentioned in the thread as being the media person.
Attached are photo's taken of the Thurrock Gazette dated August 1932 from the Thurrock Museum.  We also found his grave in Corringham Cemetery.  Unfortunately it is unmarked.  Photo also attached from his funeral.

To give you a little history of Scouting in the area, Thurrock, Stanford-le-Hope and Basildon all formed one large South Essex District which would have been how it was around the 1930's.  Then at some point after the second world war, Stanford-le-Hope & District broke away from Thurrock District.  Stanford also included the area that now makes up Basildon.  Then in the 60's ish when Basildon new town was built Basildon split away from Stanford-le-Hope.

Despite hunting high and low for the Cup in all three Districts, it has so far not been found and no one seems to know it's where abouts, if indeed it is still in existence.

I have also asked at The Scout Association's HQ in London (which also happens to be where I work) and the Archive Department there do not have any information about the Cup of John Adams either.

We're still asking around and should there be any news I'll let you know.

If you post the items onto the forum thead please add "Images provided by Stanford-le-Hope & District Scouts and the Thurrock Museum."

Kind regards

Owen

there is also a copy of the newspaper but I don't know how to copy it
