done a bit of digging and from census returns it seems James Emery was born circa 1822, he married Sarah in 1841 and she died in 1868 in Ramsgate. from 1861 census they had a son Frederick G Emery born c 1859 in Ramsgate. 1871 James has married Frances Hobday (nee Sondes) and they are living together with Frederick Emery (son) aged 12 and Maria Hobday (step daughter) aged 10. The ages all fit so it would appear that father and son married mother and daughter?

It appeared that day to me

A familiar address seems to be Brunswick, Ramsgate, wonder if it still exists , was near that area earlier in the year, should have thought to see if it still exists

I have come across the name (as a farm) in Dorking, Surrey.

There is a Sondes family that are of notability, not related as far as I can see

The Sondes family are also connected to Challens also of Ramsgate, they had a chimney sweep business which I think was run by the widow Challen at sometime, as I said my Coveney and Challens are connected to the Sondes family

That was interesting barryd
