Thank you Tecwyn,
You might have just connected us to the William Bloor of Plas Capten. We have been discussing him recently as maybe being a brother to Joseph, but he obviously wasn't born at Newmarket. We also have seen a will of a John Bloor who mentiones William Bloor of Plas Capten as being brother to John, so maybe another son for Thomas and Mary. I have come to the decision, as there are no baptism records for Thomas at Whitford or any of the surrounding Parishes, that he may have originated from Cheshire or Staffordshire where many Bloors are from. I don't know how I am to prove any I find in the English parishes as my Thomas. But thank you very much for your input.much appreciated.
Kind Regards

This probably won't take you any further, but I found this in the Tremeirchion PRs.

31st December 1778, Thomas Bloor, witness to the marriage of John Roberts (Whitford) to Rachael Dean (otp)

This is the only Bloor reference in Tremeirchion betwen 1695 and 1812.

It is really fascinating to see ancestor's names from hundreds of years ago in print. At least we know he was around then!! even if we can't find much about him. Thank you Tecwyn, for your help. I might scribe a letter to one of the local newspapers, I believe Joseph Bloor's family moved to the Brymbo area so there may well still be connections there.

Kind regards

As you're looking at Cheshire, have you seen the Cheshire Parish Register Database created by Liverpool University ? I don't know whether or not it covers the whole county, but here's the link:

http://cgi.csc.liv.ac.uk/cgi-bin/cgiwrap?user=cprdb&script=newff-index

I found a Thomas Bloor in Nantwich with a date code 7540419, which translates as 19th April 1754.

Might be worth a look.

Nerys,
I just tried the link I gave you yesterday and found it didn't work. I used to have a link in my Favourites that took me in, but that doesn't work now either.
If you Google "Cheshire Parish Registers" you should be able to work your way in that way. If I work it out I'll let you know. Maybe someone else knows how to do it.

Hi Tecwyn,
I haven't had a chance to look at the link  :( I've been busy. I have posted a message on the Cheshire site and someone has kindly looked up baptism for Thomas, so now I know his father was called John, but no mention of his mother, which was apparently normal in them days not to mention mother's name.
Everyone is so kind in doing all these look ups. I wish I lived closer to home so I could do it myself.

Kind regards
Nerys
