Where is Harboro' ?
« on: Sunday 24 April 05 17:29 BST (UK) »
Hi all,

According to census my ggggrandfather George Knight was born "Leicester Harboro' " c 1785.  Is "Harboro' " a place or would this be Market Harborough?

Where would I find parish registers.

Hi Susan,

I would imagine it would be Market Harborough.

Hello, Susan,

Market Harborough, Leicestershire, is known as Harboro'.
I went to school there in the 1950's so can confirm that.
There were Knights in Welford at that time, as I used to run errands for Mrs Knight who was an invalid. This is 9 miles from Harborough. She always joked with my mother, who was Mrs Day (and she Mrs Knight). I'll try to remember her husband's christian name.
