Stewart's from Gortaheron (Lisnagarran, Antrim)
« on: Monday 02 May 11 15:27 BST (UK) »
Hey I hope someone can help.

I have come to a dead end with this search.

My Great Great Grandmother Elizabeth Ritchie née Stewart married my Great Great Grandfather Charles Ritchie on 27th December 1870 in the Parish of Kirkinrola. Elizabeth's date of birth is unknown. But her date of death is 28 Mar 1916.

Her father was listed as John Stewart a Farmer from Gortaheron. I cannot find any information about who Elizabeth's mother was.

From the inscription on Elizabeth's father's (John Stewart's) grave and from the listings in 1901 and 1911 Census records. I have managed to find information on his siblings.

- John Stewart (Elizabeth's Father) who died 28 Sep 1921 aged 92.
1901 Residents of a house 39 in Gortaheron (Lisnagarran, Antrim)
1911 Residents of a house 35 in Gortaheran (Lisnagarran, Antrim)
- Jane Stewart who died 20 Sep 1931 aged 91.
1901 Residents of a house 39 in Gortaheron (Lisnagarran, Antrim)
1911 Residents of a house 35 in Gortaheran (Lisnagarran, Antrim)
- William Stewart who died 16 May 1905 aged 67.
1901 Residents of a house 39 in Gortaheron (Lisnagarran, Antrim)
- Samuel Stewart who died 13 Jun 1909 aged 74.
1901 Residents of a house 39 in Gortaheron (Lisnagarran, Antrim)
- James Stewart who died 26 Mar 1841 aged 7.
- Robert Stewart who died 12 Jul 1895 aged 55.

Their parents (Elizabeth's grandparents) were also listed on this grave.

- John Stewart who died 13 Mar 1884 aged 76.
- Martha Stewart who died 5 Jun 1870 aged 71.

I know the descendants of Elizabeth Stewart but any information relating to her siblings (if any), parents (especially her mother who remains unknown), aunts, uncles or grandparents would be greatly appreciated.

I think I can give further information.
My great great grandmother(Martha Stewart , born 1820)BORN  1820) was born in Gortaheron.  Her mother  was Martha Stewart(died 1870) and her father was John Stewart. John's father(John) married Fanny. Martha srewart(born 1820) married Thomas Caulfield and the couple moved to the neighbouring Parish(Craigs) and lived in Craigs Townland. In 1860 they emigrated with their children to Glasgow(Scotland).
The Stewart siblings who remained in Gortaheron must have been the siblings of my great great grandmother(Martha Stewart , born 1820).
John and Fanny Stewart(born circa 1766) were living with their granddaughter(Martha Caulfield , nee Stewart) at 162 Craigs Townland in 1851(see Census report).

I have done the family tree up to the present date and I am pleased to get the addition information.

New members usually need 2 posts to use PM system (it's explained in the help pages) and the full inbox message means they need to make a few more posts so that they will be able to receive, and send, messages.

The wording on the gravestone looks straightforward so I'm not sure what you find confusing  ???
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Hi
I have Martha Stewart in my family tree married to Thomas Caulfield.  Born in 1820 she is my 3rd great Grandmother and I'm grateful for the additional information below.  I knew about John & Fanny Stewart but wasn't sure where they fitted in the story as I had them on a census record as lodgers.

My family connection is as follows
Thomas Caulfield married Martha Stewart great grand parents x3
James Caulfield married Annie McMahon great grand parents x2
Daniel Tarbet married Rosina Caulfield - great grand parents
James Caulfield Tarbet married Mary Leonard - grand parents
James Caulfield Tarbet married Catherine O'Neill - parents
Rosina - myself

Hope you're all well and thanks again for the extra info.

Rosina
