info;on binsteed /widger families 1895.
« on: Friday 06 May 11 04:00 BST (UK) »
Hello all, tricky subject here, both families are related to me,and so familylore  says trained an Aintree,Liverpool, winner in 1895.A painting of the horse.'The Wild Man from Borneo.hung in my G'G Parents parlour until both had died ,after which it is believed it was thrown out with other 'old fashioned' items, such as family photo's.
The Widger family is still a lively group from items in 'Horsey news'.Ihave tried to communicate with them and had no success.
There was a recent piece of info;that reached me a short time ago hinting at a certain relative making journies to Ireland in search of 'extra income'on the strength of our relationship.Such is not my intention nor need,my interest is purely family history based.
The person I would most like to confer with is the G'G'Son of the man that rode the horse,Joe Widger,or failing that good fortune,a Widger family historian of sorts.
It is as you see, tricky and needing superlative diplomatic skills!
If anyone can do this work I will be rid of a Devil that rides my back while it goes unanswered.
Glucose.

My grandmother was a Widger (Waterford), and I have been researching the family history.  I have read about the possible connection between the Widger family and the Binstead family but no one I have talked to seems to recall any family members in the coastguard (as was the case with the Binstead family).  Do you have any documentation that links the horse dealing Widgers with the Binstead family?
