he was born around 1730 and it has been suggested he married Hannah Oriel.

http://cat.llgc.org.uk/cgi-bin/gw/chameleon?skin=profeb&lng=enFrom my research into the ORIEL surname over the past 30+ years ;
Current research suggests that Hannah Oriel is the daughter of Thomas Oriel of Llanboidy and around the late 17th early 18th century of Garness Farm and Mill, Crunwere. Hannah Prout nee' Oriel was buried at Amroth on the 15 Jan 1796.
Thomas Oriel has indenture of lease and release in 1745 and 1746. He is believed to be the Thomas Oriel mentioned in the will fo Robert Picton of Cardigan in 1754 and had another indenture of lease and relase in 1758.
He signed his will 26 Dec 1782, but his burial location has not yet been established, His will was not probated until 17 Apr 1800 but he is mentioned in the will of his son Wm Oriel of Llandowror 1795.
The delay in probate was due to the Court Case brought by Sarah Morgan over ownership of Garness Farm & Mill of Crunwere a case she lost, the farm having been in the ownership/Leased by the Oriel's since at least the late 17th century if not earlier. I have a full private transcript of the case. The farm went to her cousin James Oriel, the family tree produced during the case is quite complicated.
The farm remained in the Oriel family until 1973, when it was sold on the death of Mary Elizabeth Oriel. This is by far the longest any one family ever lived in the village of Crunwere(Llanteg).
The Butterfield surname mentioned in the will of Stephen Oriel and the Pearman surname of Pembrokeshire, are 2 ancestoral families common to my wife and I. Both the Pearman and Butterfields orginate from Hertfordshire England.
