Fraser/Renton
« on: Tuesday 10 May 11 19:14 BST (UK) »
My great aunt Jeanie Fraser was born 1889 at Lochmaben, she was born Jeanie Richardson but just a few months after her birth her name was changed to Fraser.  She was the daugher of Margaret Richardson and John Fraser.  I can find her on the 1891 census at Cummertrees with her parents, unfortunately I can't find a trace of any of them on the 1901 census.  Jeanie's mother Margaret died and her father married Agnes Martin.  On the 1911 census the family are staying in the parish of Caerlaverock.  Jeanie had a sister Johnann (my grandmother) a brother William born 1897 and a sister Maggie born 1900 there was another sister Sarah don't have her date of birth.  I think Jeanie married a William Renton born around 1888 no idea where.  Can anyone help me.

Kathleen

dear Kathleen, I have just found roots chat and have some info for you. Jeanie Renton was my husband's aunt. she lived in Edinburgh and had two daughters( both now deceased) Aunt Sarah (Sally) married Willie Irvine. They had two sons ( both now deceased) -one had two sons. Uncle Willie was killed in Action in 1916 and is on the memorial at Thiepval.  Johnan became Mrs Craik and they lived near Bankend. My husband has no knowledge of Margaret but his mother (Helen) was born to Agnes Fraser in 1912.

Elspeth Dobie Martin Fraser ( became Dickie) was also born to Agnes Martin 16/8/1909 . She had 10 children of whom at this time 4 are surviving. hope this adds a bit more information :). Its 100 years on 15.9.2016 since William Fraser was killed on the Somme.
