Hi  :)

Could it possibly be Beeley:

Added - just seen the link that you've added  - 1350s - it could be a manor, poor spelling, etc. I'd like to see  the original documents to see how it is written. Have you verified the information?

In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

Hi there

Bailey is associated with Hardwicke Hall in Derbyshire. It was the name of the husband of Bess of Hardwicke. His name was Robert Bailey of Bailey. It may have been a small hamlet in the past. Could have been overrun by another village or even knocked down for whatever reason.
I found it on a good site called A vision of Britain through time. It gives you
small villages and towns from about the 13th centuary, very interesting.

regards Sandymc

p.s. He is also called Robert Barlow in some research?

Thanks All

I did think they had got fixated on the Bailey name too  ;) Having looked at Beeley via the venerable 'Google' it does appear that a lot of people researching Bailey are also using Beeley as a variant ..... I also suspect it is in the right part of the Peak for my contact.

Although this could be the answer he's looking for - if anything else comes up please keep them coming
