Workhouse/s in Shrewsbury around 1750
« on: Monday 16 May 11 20:38 BST (UK) »
Can anyone advise where there was a workhouse in the Shrewsbury area in 1750'ish & where the records might now be found?

I am searching for Phebe Chettow/Blodwell  - any references to her (with sources) would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Sue

Hi Sue

There was a Workhouse at Cross Houses, Atcham near Shrewsbury. I do not know any other information. There have been previous posts re this subject and if my memory serves me right there was a conection to the Shrewsbury School.

Hope this helps.
