« on: Wednesday 18 May 11 12:20 BST (UK) »
G'day Chatters,

Would it be possible please for someone to check the arrival of a Isabella GARDNER/GARDINER aboard the vessel Ghengis Khan in 1853 at Port Melbourne.

A family story syas that she was "disposed" to a man in Richmond Melbourne.

Maybe shad family with her also.

Regards

Hi Wal,

Isabella was 25, a domestic servant from Haddington in Scotland.  She was Presbyterian and could read and write.  The disposal list shows that she was contracted to work for a Mr PURVES at Richmond for 3 months at 25 pounds (I think this is a per annum rate).  She appears to be travelling alone.
