Hi Gang,
Jilly good news that David Jeffrey wants to join us, as I will be using bits from 'Petersfield at War' on the 13th!
Thank you for obtaing the copies of the spread for us.
Mike,
Sue Gilson has replied,
"Thank you so much for sending the photos Brian. There is a pre-piece about the reunion in this week’s paper and we have already had one reader enquire about it.

We would like to cover it on the day so perhaps see you then,"

Kind regards,
Sue

Perhaps Mr Berriman is the person referred to by sue.?
Good news is I'm on the last leg of the laminating, just need to do the name badges and arrange the display boards when I borrow them.
I intend leaving early to miss (hopefully) a lot of the traffic on the 13th so I should be able to join you at the half moon for 10am.
Cheers
Brian H

Hello,

My Mum was evacuated to West Mark for several years during the war.

She attended a reunion some years ago, and has a booklet produced at that time. She was told about the reunion by a friend who reads the Portsmouth News.  Is you reunion purely for post war students?

My mother is now 82, but has extremely vivid memories of it being the happiest of times.

Could you let me know if the evacuee children who still survive are included in your gathering?

Best regards.

Marilyn Selway

Hello Marilyn
War time evacuees? We knew there was a previous reunion for the war years, but had little knowledge of it. This reunion is designed for the ex pupils of the West Mark Boarding School which ran  from 1949 to 1956, some four years after the war finished. Any evacuee or children thereof would not know anyone at our reunion, so I guess there would be little point in attending.

Thank you for your interest and please pass on our kind regards to your mother as we to echo her memories of  being at a happy place.

Kind regards

Mike Pitson

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

PUB DIRECTIONS. Take the A272 from the A3, at first roundabout turn left, pub about half a mile on the left. Upon arrival in the car park please follow signs to our private area. Tea and coffee await you.
SCHOOL SITE VISIT
We have secured permission from the major land owner to visit the site; however they have, placed some restrictions upon us.
1)   Only ex pupils with one partner and the two daughters of Mr Evans may visit. Max 30 people.
2)   Photography is OK. Providing no pictures of the house or any other structure that would identify the property is taken.
3)   Due to the swimming pool, young children are forbidden.
4)   No reporting or mention of the house or grounds on the Internet.
5)   There is very little room for vehicles to turn, so I would ask those with the largest cars to pack in as many people as they can to minimise the number of vehicles.
LUNCH
Before leaving the pub for the site visit please order your lunch at the counter so that the kitchen staff has sufficient time to serve us altogether at 1 o’clock.
CHURCH SERVICE
It is likely that parking will be at a premium in Sheet village, so again can we ask for large car help. It is hoped that the Lectern that the school presented to the church will be on view and used for the day. An `offering’ is expected.
GENERAL
The time scales may be restrictive, but we must take into account that some will be travelling long distances, and being of mature age (alright getting old!) may tire if things drag on and want to get home before rush hour.

This concludes the formal part of the day. The gang of four, who have worked so hard to bring this special `one off’ day together hope that you will enjoy your day, recall happy memories, and have renewed old friendships.

Have a safe journey home.

Thanks Jilly.
Mike,
June Selway is the lady we spoke about from Portsmouth and was a wartime pupil who I said would be my guest, Not sure about ronald Hatton but the name rings a bell!

Hopefully you'll also be getting a message from Peter Alexander, I last spoke to him through Friends Reunited back in January, I've asked him to contact you on here.
