From the civil registrations I could see what you found,

Mother's Birth Surname   COURTNEY

Also the marriage
Party 1 Name   JOSEPH MARTIN
Party 2 Name   ANNIE COURTNEY

SR District/Reg Area   Dundalk

At irishgenealogy.ie in the civil registrations it does have the IMAGE to see the civil record and it gives Annie's father as John Courtney, deceased, blacksmith and sure seems Scatty has found PollyB's family.

I do wonder how you know John in Skibbereen is the son of Timothy from Castlehavan?
It sounds correct just wondered how sure you are?

Which includes a John, Bridget did not come up in this group so clearly the spelling variations are causing problems.

Wow thank you to everyone who has taken the time to reply, especially Scatty.  That is amazing and certainly does fit with the little information I have.  Dundalk!  I'd never have found that in a million years (I suppose it does rhyme with Cork!  ).  I had pretty much given up with my Grandmother's line, so this has come as a lovely surprise out of the blue, and I finally have something to progress from.  I really can't thank you enough for taking the time to look and help, and especially for the copy documents, they're fantastic.
