Marriage record

I would be grateful if someone could look up a marriage record for Breconshie in 1820. My gt gt grandfather was Edward Gower. According to the various census records for Trevethin that  I have seen he was born in Llangyfelach in about 1794  but I can't find a record of him there, however that is another story. His wife was named Jane and her birth place looked like Llangurid Brecon. I have since found out that Llangurid is in Radnorshire and Jane's birthplace could be Llangynidir ( not sure if that is how you spell it) They were married in Breconshire in 1820. I know quite a bit about their later life but I would be interested to know Jane's maiden name.

the birth cert for one of the children born after civil registration would give you Jane's maiden name

and possibly help with the search for the marriage.

Hi Osprey

I sent for Martha's birth cert. and discovered that Jane's name was Williams. Searched on IGI but could not find a record for a marriage of Jane Williams with Edward Gower. Any ideas?

the IGI is far from complete. There are extracted marriages on the IGI for Llangynidr for the period, but no Edward Gower marriage. Parish baptism records for Llangyfelach are not on the IGI for the 1790s, neither is Swansea St John.

Is Elizabeth their eldest child? The marriage could be near the birth place of the eldest. I have indexes that cover Glamorgan & Monmouthshire for that period and can't see the marriage.

Sometime last year I was posting on the Glamorgan site asking about Edward's birth. I had several messages from Hanes teulu  and one of them said that Jane and Edward were married in Breconshire in 1820 but he didn't give any details as to where. I have looked at the posts again but that particular message isn't there.

I think that Elizabeth is their oldest child.  My gt grandfather was Thomas Gower.

The nearest that they can come up with when I put in Edward Gower is a Mark Grey and Robert Grey. I am no longer a member of Ancestry as I felt I had already discovered all I could about about my various families by using their site. Sent a message to Hanes Teulu and he explained that he had calculated the approximate date of Edward and Jane's marriage from the age of their son William when he got married.
