Rutledge comes up in the Dublin Almanac and trade directory quite a lot, even the Lord Mayor.  A barrister etc and this for the suberb of Coolock 1841

Day and Sunday School - Thomas and Mary Rutledge superintendants.

Frederica is in the household of Alonzo Potter the Bishop of Pennsylvannia? in 1850.  I wonder if the move to the US was aided by the church? Thomas may have died, or gone to the US earlier?
 Just thinking out loud....

Oh dear, you sound in a bad way - have a coffee instead.  ;)

Hugh, Lottie and Dorothy appear on a Philadelphia Passenger List. Travelling Liverpool to Philadelphia. PA  - Arriving 7 Aug 1904 on the Haverford. BUT Hugh is described as Hugh Wallace Barrett  ???

Family also appear on the Haverford 25 th April 1906 going to Philadelphia

This is an interesting thread. Is this your Thomas Augustine Daly?

https://www.poemhunter.com/thomas-augustine-daly/biography/

I think there is a connection to my Daly's who were sea captains and in the performing arts.

There is a Lawrence Barrett(actor) in the mix and a connection to Harrison's.

My Daly's arrived in Philadelphia, but shortly became pilots in the port of Bathurst, New Brunswick. Some thereafter went to Boston and became famous on the stage.

I have recently tied them to...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Daly

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Augustin_Daly

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Merrigan_Daly

This is the Barrett connection....

Will check out the Harrison connection, but seems possible your Thomas Daly might descent from the Daly Family of Raford, Galway, Ireland.

Hi Sandra, I found this thread very interesting. Stephen Frederick Barrett is my great grandfather. Elizabeth Barrett (Delaney) is my grandmother. My father is Stephen Barrett Delaney. Much of the info you put in the thread was spot on. My question is - Is there any info on Stephen Frederick Barrett's father? My great grandmother Mary McGuckin's ancestry goes back to County Leitrim and County Tyrone, but we hit a wall with Stephen Barrett. His father's name was Frederick Barrett, possibly born in Yorkshire in 1851. That's all I got. Any help would be much appreciated. Hope I've done this right.

Thanks

New info I've received says that it is Stephen Flanagan Barrett, not Frederick. And his father is Leonard Dobbin Barrett, who was married to Fredericka Rutledge. Her parents were William and Mary Rutledge.

What this all adds up to is that Elizabeth Barrett was the grand daughter of Leonard Dobbin Barrett. Family legend always said there was a ship captain some where in our lineage. Elizabeth Barrett was my grandmother. Her son was Stephen Barrett Delaney, I am same name add Jr.

But... the draft record says Frederic, wife Mary. Could mean all things are the same, just a wrong Flanagan thrown in there by mistake. My uncles and father all thought Frederic. Regardless, Leonard Dobbin Barrett is in the line.

Welcome to RootsChat.

The only record I could see showing Flanagan was the baptism record -
Stephen Flanagan 27 January 1877 - baptism 24 June 1977 Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Episcopal -    Church of St John the Evangelist (Episcopal)
Father Leonard D Barrett - Mother Fredrica A Barrett
