John Killoh
« on: Friday 10 June 11 12:28 BST (UK) »
Can anyone help me to find details of death for John Killoh born at Cushnie, Banffshire Scotland, on 20 Apr 1870 and his wife Jane Baxter b. at Ellon, Aberdeenshire on 30 Aug 1861.

They emigrated to Hamiota in Manitoba in 1891 and 1890 respectively

Also, did Jane's son George Wright b. 16 August 1886 marry in Canada. If whom, where and when.

Good morning,

Manitoba vital stats genealogy search page is a good place to start. John & Janes' marriage is in it & also Jane's death in 1935. I didn't see a marriage for George.

Cordially,
Lisa

The url for Vital Stats Manitoba  http://vitalstats.gov.mb.ca/Query.php
So Jane was married before I take it? There is a George Archibald Wright married in Hamiota to a Nellie Whyte April 8th 1908
George Wright married in Hamiota to a Bertha Stanley nov. 15 1916

info on a son if you are interested... http://www.manitobaaghalloffame.com/roll_of_honour.php?ID=16

1911 says he was born maug... http://www.automatedgenealogy.com/census11/SplitView.jsp?id=66524

Now he is the only George I see in the censuses, so might he have been both of those marriages?
Wonder if there are 2 of them in 1916

You may also want to check for his full name on Scotslands people...Here is something on the one marriage found...so he wasn't married twice...This site says born 1880... so the one in 1911 might be the still single George

Hi Folks,
Thanks for all the info and web sites you've provided. I really appreciate it -especially the headstones website.

I've checked on Scotlands People and confirmed that George was the illegitimate son of Jane and had no middle name.
The marriage to Bertha Stanley may well be what I'm looking for but more evidence would be needed to confirm this.

I've found a George Wright on Ancestry.co.uk entering Canada from the USA at Niagara Falls on 3rd July 1917 where he is described as a Soldier (along with a batch of other soldiers). His age is given as 30 which would match our George, but again more evidence would be needed. I'm pursuing John Killoh's crossings of the Atlantic at present so may well be back on here with more queries.

My grateful thanks to all. Enjoy the rest of the day.

I know this is from 2011 but if you are still looking for info on John Killoh and Jane Baxter please let me know, they were my great-grandparents and I have their story.

Hi Ryan,
Yes I would be interested.  I used my data to prepare  an article for our Family History Society of Buchan newsletter. I'll send you all the info I've got. It will probably be best to send 3 or 4 files at a time so as not to overload the system. How can we use our Email addresses to send personal messages and keep our info secure?
