... Will check if I can see marriages for the others.

While the applicant in the 1921 form was recorded as Lizzie Marshall, the address was given as "Mrs Lizzie Orr, The Dreen, Cullybaccy" (sic). Elizabeth Marshall married widower Joseph Orr on 9 October 1880 in Ahoghill 2nd Presbyterian Church, Joseph was a farmer from Dreen, the son of farmer George Orr.  Elizabeth's address was also Dreen, her father John Marshall was described as a weaver. A Sarah Marshall was a witness. This looks like a possibility for them in 1901 and 1911:

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Antrim/Ballyconnelly/Dreen/115754/

A Joseph Orr with a reported age of 83 died on 13 June 1922, PRONI has this entry in the Will Calendars: Probate of the Will of Joseph Orr late of Dreen County Antrim Farmer who died 13 June 1922 granted at Belfast to Robert Giffin Auctioneer Effects £133 10s.

And just a possibility in the Will Calendars for Elizabeth, this one living in Loan and died on 26 October 1929 with a reported age of 84: Orr Elizabeth of Loan Cullybackey county Antrim widow died 26 October 1929 Probate Belfast 18 February to James Close farmer and John Berkley Stewart M.D. Effects £179 6s. 8d.

Wow. Thanks for that. Need to start looking more closely in to this side of my tree. Can I ask what resources you are currently using. I let my ancestry membership lapse as I feel I exhausted all their resources. Would love to get in to my Irish roots a bit further North and South if there is anything you can recommend. Regards Mark.

And for Andrew Marshall

Those are birth extracts from Family Search not christening records (92 in John's entry refers to page 92 in the birth register).
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

As well as trying to confirm if the James Marshall that married a Ellen Mc Kay had a Dad Called John.

Father's Name       Mathew Marrs, Spouse's Father's Name    John Marshall
Found lots of Children Records,
Sarah Marrs Birth Date 01 Feb 1878
James, Birth Date 02 Apr 1876,
David, Birth 20 Mar 1874, Birthplace Ahoghill, Ant, Ire
William John Mars Birth Date 11 Jun 1872, Birthplace Ahoghill, Ant, Ire
Ellen, Birth Date    18 Nov 1869, Birthplace Ahoghill, Ant, Ire

Resources include Ancestry, Emerald Ancestors, RootsIreland, Ulster Historical Foundation (covering primarily Counties Antrim & Down, it should be the same coverage for BMDs as RootsIreland, but has other information).

The bottom line is that there isn't a silver bullet to recommend, before civil registration you depend on church records or alternatives.  :(

Thanks Gaffy. I was thinking of trying Roots Ireland for a while as I had a few good results for my ancestors in the South. I'll look in to the others too. Finding this 1851 census extract is going to add a pretty big branch on to my tree.
