Sancta
« on: Monday 14 June 04 10:05 BST (UK) »
On an IGI christening record for 1818 I have the mother of an ancestor just listed as "Sancta". Is this a Christian name, or is it an ecclesiastical term I have never come across?

Any ideas?

David

Some suggestions...

1.  Typo in transcription - could it be Sandra if you shove the "dr" together it could look very similar - you'd need to check the original record.

2.  Dutch connection?  Sancta I think means Saint in Dutch - Sancta Maria etc seems to be the same in Czech as well?

Good luck,

Pam
