Noble Chorley
« on: Tuesday 14 June 11 03:03 BST (UK) »
I'm looking for any information on Noble Chorley, born July 1858 Ennerdale, Cumberland. He married Jane Parsley Nov13,1880 in Whitehaven, Cumberland.
She died in 1904. Noble then married Ada Miers. The 1911 census shows Ada with 2 children in Leskew Row Gosforth, Cumberland where she was on Parish Relief.
Noble seems to have disappeared. Any help would be appreciated.
Noble is my mother-in-law's grandfather. She is 90 years old and is desperately trying to find out what happened to him.
Thanks

Hi,
My name is Helen and I was in touch with Ivy re The Chorley family several years ago and was saddened to hear of her passing.  I came across the following info recently re Noble Chorley and wondered if you were are still persuing family history.

The info was in The Edinburgh and London Gazettes:
Noble Chorley, Market Gardener of Corkickle, Whitehaven, Cumberland was declared bankrupt at Whitehaven Court.
Bankruptcy filed on 15th January 1910.
Bankruptcy Order filed on 5th February 1910.
2 Shillings 4 Pence in the Pound payable on 20th June 1910.
Date of Release 26th September 1910.
Official Receiver: Kighley John Hough, 34 Fisher Street, Carlisle, Cumberland.

Perhaps this explains why he disappeared and his wife and children were receiving Parish Relief.  I'll keep on looking!

Helen (Arlecdon, Cumbria, England)

ON my tree I found him on the 1911 census living at 3 Arlecdon  Road.
It was also with the parish.
It was my 2nd Great Grandfather.
