Ann and David Thomas
« on: Monday 20 June 11 04:47 BST (UK) »
I would like to find my GGGrandparents Ann (Margaret Ann) and David Thomas and order their death certificates. They appear on the 1861 census with family living at Garnfach, Llanedy, Carmarthenshire. Ann aged 52 born 1809 in Carmarthenshire and David Thomas aged 50 born 1811 in Swansea. They are missing on the 1871 census and their son David is at the same address and is head of the family. So it seems likely they died between these two census. What I am hoping some one can tell me please is if they died at the address in Llanedy what would be the most likely district their deaths would be registered. Llanelly or Carmarthen.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Pauline

The registration district would probably be Llanelly. If you specify the address Garnfach and Parish Llanedy, I'm sure the staff at Llanelli register office should be able to find the death certificate. They search 2 years either side of the specified year, but if unsuccessful customers may request a personal adviser to search further on their behalf, at the cost of £15 per hour.

Hi Morgan,

Thank you for that information. David Thomas was deceased in 1866 on his daughters marriage certificate and as there are 20 deaths for David Thomas's for this period in Llanelli it could become very expensive to find the correct one. So I will put this on hold at the moment.

Thank you once again

Pauline

Hi Pauline  :)

Although there are 20 deaths of a David Thomas in Llanelli (1861-6), they will not all be in Llanedy Parish. The Register Office hold their records by Parish so it will be easier for them to find the correct certificate, if you decide to go ahead.

Kind Regards
Morgan
