My step father's name is Christopher Frank Lowings. I know he was born in 1910 and married a girl with the surname Jones. can anyone help me with more information on these two relatives.

Welcome to Rootschat!

Using freebmd at www.freebmd.org.uk , free of charge you'll find:

Christopher F Lowings married Edna M Jones in Luton registration district in the June quarter 1933 (she's been mistranscribed as Janes). You need to purchase the marriage certificate from http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/ to get fathers' names

But I can't find a birth registration for him. Nor a death - do you have that detail? There's only one Christopher Lowings in the 1911 census index at www.1911census.co.uk , born 1910, living in Islington with parents William (born Flitwick, Beds) and Alice, both aged 31.  They also had children Victor 6, Doris 4 and Lesley (male) 2. You need to purchase credits, cost minimum £6-95 to get full details.  Victor and Doris both married in Luton and there's also a death in Luton in the Sept quarter 1947 of Alice C Lowings age 67, so I'm sure this is the right family.

They baptised the following
Victor William Alfred Lowings on 23 Aug 1905 at Islington, Battle Bridge All Saints, son of William and Alice Clara of 24 Roman Rd, clerk
Doris Alice Emily Lowings on 28 Nov 1906 at Holloway St James, dau of William and Alice Clara of 14 Huntingdon St, commercial clerk

William Lowings married Alice Clara Rolfe at St Pancras on 1 Aug 1904:
William Lowings age 24 bachelor of 85 York Rd, NW, father Amos Lowings clerk and Alice Clara Rolfe 24 spinster of 22 Leslie St, West Holloway, father George Rolfe compositor. Witnesses John Lowings and George Rolfe

You'll find Amos and family living in Flitwick, Beds in the 1881 census at www.familysearch.org

There are loads of Edna Jones' births, fewer for Edna M Jones. But none were in Luton, so it's vital you get the marriage certificate to get her father's name to try her pinpoint her in 1911 (if indeed she was born before the census)

I've found his father, William's WW1 service record, which shows he enlisted on 14 Aug 1919 (although he mentions earlier service in the RAMC from 29 Sept 1915 to 8 Jul 1819) with an address of 65 Church St, Dunstable, Beds, with wife Alice formerly Rolfe, and children Victor born 31 May 1905 at Islington; Doris born 19 Oct 1906 at Islington; Leslie born 8 Jun 1908 at St Pancras; Christopher born 6 Jan 1910 at Islington; Elsie born 25 Jun 1911 at Islington.

So definitely the right family
