A modern article on the Imperial Hotel Stanley. Wherever the writer got "Burnhope" in the address I think was a mistake.

Imperial Hotel, Stanley Location: Scott Street, Burnhope, Stanley, Durham DH9 8AD
Not just Burnhope, the building is on Front Street, not Scott Street. http://goo.gl/maps/QJ54b

From 1911 - 1915 the Imperial Hotel, Consett was at 21 Harvey Street.

Is this not The Empire/Empress which became the Northern General Transport Offices just a short way along Medomsley Road from the Braes ?

You used to be able to see the name of that pub in a mosaic on the floor in the doorway.  It might even still be there.

Hello,
I have just joined Rootschat. Before joining, Rootschat kept appearing in my searches. This thread particularly interests me because my 2nd cousin 3x removed, Annie Pattinson, and her husband Lachlan McTaggart managed the Imperial, 21 Harvey St., Consett in 1911. I found this info. on the 1911 census. Is the photo really of this particular one? Has anyone found this info. in pub records? I'd be interested to know. Thanks, Claire

I'm just wondering that as the initial poster said the photo is from their collection and shows their GGPs, it could not be the one on 21 Harvey St. as in 1911 my 2nd cousin 3x removed, along with her husband, managed the Imperial hotel. His name is Lachlan McTaggart, Hotel Manager at 21 Harvey St., Consett. This is shown in the 1911 census. My conclusion is that it must be another Imperial Hotel.
