Just a note to eliminate the Blackwellgate, Darlington one. It was, and still is, a fine Victorian Multi-Floor building. Very high-class clients in it's day.

Many thanks for your replies.Obviously I can forget about the pub in Stanley(whers the clock on my picture?)and the one in Blackwell.I have been told via a group on Facebook that The Imperial may have been on Medomsley Rd in Consett.I think I will probably have to follow the Steel and Coulson connection

The Imperial Inn/Hotel was at 21 Harvey Street, Consett, in the 1911 Census. Harvey Street was an extension of Medomsley Road.

It looks like the one in Harvey Street could be the present "Duke of Wellington", on Medomsley Road, if it is then it does not look like the one in the photograph.

There was an Imperial Hotel in Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough, which may be worth following up.

Just an outside chance that it could be this one in Southmoor, near Stanley:-

          http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?sourceid=Mozilla-search&q=+South+Moor%2C+County+Durham

Unfortunately it's not possible to see the name and it's obviously pretty old and may have had its facade altered over the course of the years, but it has a certain 'look' about it.

There are a lot of 'woody' streets on the other side of the road but I couldn't see a Beech Terrace.

If you go to http://gis.durham.gov.uk/website/interMAP/viewer.htm and put the post code DH9 7EL in to search it will centre the map on Beech Terrace.

This link
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?sourceid=Mozilla-search&q=+South+Moor%2C+County+Durham only gives you a view of the whole area, where is the building that you are referring to?

For some reason the link I used zoned in on Hustledown Road. I don't know why - Google maps usually work pretty accurately.

         http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?sourceid=Mozilla-search&q=Mundell+Street%2C+South+Moor%2C+County+Durham

This one may work correctly. The link you gave in your last post points directly to the pub to which I was referring. Any information available on it?
