Shipping passage to England from Canada 1920-1939
« on: Saturday 25 June 11 07:42 BST (UK) »
Hi,
I am looking for Roy Leslie Townsend New returning to England from Canada.
He was sent to Canada on board the Grampian to Quebec on the 25.8.1920 as a Home Child,
then to Hamilton Ontario with the National Children's Home there.  There has been a big gap in his life between when he arrived and when he returned to London.

We know that he married back in London in 1939.  Wonder if anyone could assist me to
find when he returned.

Sorry, I forgot to give that information.   Roy was born 1906 at Newbury, Berkshire England, son of Albert Leonard New and Fanny Elizabeth Townsend New.

He doesn't appear on any of the passenger lists inwards,so I wondered about trying to narrow him down by his DOB incase he'd been entered with just a surname or just an initial.

Can't see his birth on FreeBMD?

Carol

ADDED- Ah he's registered as Leslie.

Births Jun 1906

Yes, that's him.

I've got all the information on his going to Canada as a Home Child.

Just need his return to England

Even with his DOB I have still had no luck seeing his name on the inwards passenger lists-sorry! Have checked all those with the surname NEW born around 1906- zilch  :(
Could he have flown back here rather than come by ship?

Regards

Carol
