Arthur Abel
« on: Wednesday 29 June 11 22:46 BST (UK) »
Arthur Abel is buried in the lair of the Ferguson family at Camelon Cemetery. He died in 1912 age 6 months. I cannot find a death of his parents or even a marriage for them. But his parents were Arthur Carnie Abel and Margaret Pettigrew. The surname is spelt Abel on his birth certificate and Able on the lair paperwork. I'm struggling to find out why he would be in the same lair as the Ferguson family. So if anyone can find out anymore on his parents and where they originally came from. Could he have been adopted and his parents died at the same time? All these questions i'm trying to answer.

Have you checked the 1911 census for his parents to establish their birthyears and birthplaces

Hello,

In all of Scotland 1911 till 2009 there is only one Margaret Abel death - other name Pettigrew.

 1938 ABEL MARGARET   CUNNINGHAM PETTIGREW F 50 FALKIRK /STIRLING 479/00 0318

and for the same date range - enter Arthur Abel only in Scotlands People and you get

1954 ABEL ARTHUR CARNIE     M 74 FALKIRK /STIRLING 479/00 0485

Regards,   Steve   :)

MMM to for me to zzzzzz

But with the info provided by CaroleW

Read to the bottom of the atatched link - would possibly appear to the the same Abel family.?  mentions a Rev Arthur C Abel as a younger brother in Dundee - the family coming from Kintore.

Arthur Carnie Abel, widower of Margaret Pettigrew. Occupation Fishmonger. Died on 12th October 1954 at Falkirk Royal Infirmary. Parents were Alexander M. Abel who was an agricultural worker and Robina Leslie. Informant was son in law Andrew F. Wilson. Death caused by fracture of the neck and Kidney failure. Wonder if he had a fish shop or mobile van as he resided in Camelon when he died.
