Re: Your post 30 June ... was that 2011 ?? ... about place called "Hale Hurst" near Pontesbury, Shropshire, England ... it is actually Malehurst which is a small hamlet about 2 miles to the West of Pontesbury ... not much there now but a farm and mill by a dismantled railway ... I live in Shropshire so I know the area a little ... have spent quite some time researching Turner's who lived in Shropshire in pursuit of my ancestors so may have a bit about your family in my files ... when I looked up the 1861 census you refer to the John TURNER widower & coal miner looks like he is aged 54 and his daughter Jane 18 ... if this is correct this John TURNER could possibly be the illegitimate son of Mary TURNER who was baptised in Westbury on 6 March 1808 ... does that make sense ... If your post was 2011 you have probably discovered all this by now anyway Regards Brian Turner

Hi Brian, I am still researching...life just got in the way...:-) My John Turner was born in 1821 Westbury, his father Thomas is listed as bricklayer, that's as far as i have been able to get back. John died in 1872.  I am still researching when I am motivated...
I was born in Shropshire, and still have relations that I am in touch with re any information I may find.
The Turners all seemed to come from around Westbury....

Hi Alberbury...thank you for your trouble, but it doesn't look like hes in here. His father was Thomas Turner.
John was born approx 1821 as he was 40 in 1861 when he married Elizabeth Blaney who was from Llanllwchaiarn, Montgomeryshire. Two months later my ggrandfather Thomas Turner was born. They were living in Nox Pontesbury. John died in 1865. There were two deaths that year and I am not sure which one he is...maybe I might gain more information if I could access them.

On the actual Birth Records it looks like the last two children George and Elizabeth were twins. The ages are 3 and 3.

I finally found My John Turner died in 1865 died from pneumonia aged 51 in Fords Heath, Westbury.so his birth date was about 1814 not 1821. His father was Thomas Turner, bricklayer. His wife was Welsh, born Elizabeth Blaney in Llanllwchaiarn,Montgomeryshire.

The problem I was faced with, was, he was listed as 40 on his marriage certificate in 1861, and on his death cert as 51 in 1865.
I see Cardeston is next to Fords Heath where he was working when he died.
All his three children were born in Yockleton. 
I would love to know where he and his parents are buried....I think there was or is one church in Cardeston.
