This is the 1841 census for Traquair.  Children b Peebles but William & Helen are shown as not born there

the info you gave me i all ready have, the thing that puzzle`s me is Andrew middle name ( heriot ), i cant seem to find that name anywhere, also Andrew had a son born 1864 Southampton, also called Andrew heriot swanston,

Did Andrew snr marry in Scotland as their doesn't appear to be an English marriage on freebmd?

If he married in Scotland - his marriage cert will give his parents names and also his mothers maiden name

Looking at the 1871 census - he may have married in Ireland.  Wife Ellen was born there as was eldest child Mary M

His father was George Heriot Swanston and hers was Thomas Kelly
