Being that late date! cremation seems most likely and Roystone Crematorium book of remembrance may have an entry of the event.

In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

Did she marry Sept quarter 1960. There's a possible marriage for her  in the Staincross RD then.  I don't want to give the man's name, in case he's still alive.

Staincross RD ~ http://ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/staincross.html

If this is her marriage, the certificate should give details of her father.

Added - I don't easily see her death registration in 1972 - can you give details of the location, please.  It should give her full date of birth on the death index.

Found this for Dewsbury and if she was born at the end of 1940, there's every chance it would have been registered at the beginning of 1941.

Maureen Davies
Registered March qtr. 1941. Dewsbury.
Mother's name - Higgins.
Ref: 9B 926.

How do you know she was born in 1940?.

I'm wondering if Sarah might have given the wrong date of death as the only Maureen Whittaker, b.c. 1940 and dying in Yorkshire (in fact any county)  died in Bradford RD in 2002  :-\

DoB given as 8 August 1939.

 :-\ :-\ :-\

Hi gnu

Quite agree, there's nothing anywhere, apart from the one you've found, so something's wrong ??? ???
