Family Tree Research
« on: Tuesday 05 July 11 14:47 BST (UK) »
I'm trying to find living relatives of a family of Walkers' who lived at 39 North Strand Road, Dublin between 1919 and about 1940.  Any information would be helpful in my research.

I can add some older details on the address if that's of any interest ...

1939 Dublin City Voters (Dublin City Library - www.dublinheritage.ie)

39 North Strand Rd - Sarah, James & Elizabeth Walker
also Mary Reilly, James & Florence O'Sullivan, Mary Murphy

Thom's Directory 1921

39 North Stand Rd, Fredk. E. Walker
(street listing shows the address is close to Newcommen Bridge)

Thom's 1914

39 North Stand Rd, Fredk. E. Walker

Census 1911 - no Walker occupant at that time. Number 39 is split and occupied by people with surnames Tallant, Hennessy & Stapleton

Thom's 1906 - number 39 vacant

Hi Shane,

Very many thanks for your reply, it was much appreciated.

I didn't realize that Fredk. Walker resided at 39 North Strand Road as early as 1914 so thanks again

for this information.

I found the Walker family living in Baldoyle in the 1911 Census.

Best Wishes,

Paul

...

not easily .... you would have to follow up the vital details (i.e. marriage, birth etc) to see what the link is.

Have you already found details of the children of Frederick and his wife ?

If Elizabeth was not one of the daughter's then maybe she married one of the sons ?

My problem is which of the ancestors is my maternal grandmother. The walker family had four daughters Mary a. Florence Elizabeth  May. Harriett  H. Lillian M M. all born in the Uk also son Fred ghp,James was born in Dublin MY mother Florence O   Sullivan nee Florence Roche was reared by the Walker family after  her Mother Florence Roche died at 39 north strand road in 1919. Ibelive that her  maden name was Florence Walker,The death cert does not say Florence EM just florence. Florence Roche and her husban James who was a sailor lived in no 11 Sir rodgerson quay in 1910, my Mother was born that year in the Rotunda Hospital but they are not on the 1911 census. As i said Elizabeth Walker in the polling list and FLorence Roche nee Florence Walker we have two. Son fred died in the war wwi no information on this, So James could have married elizabeth.
Thanks again Shane,
P O, Sullivan.

Am still a bit confused why "My problem is which of the ancestors is my maternal grandmother."

If your mother was "Florence O   Sullivan nee Florence Roche" then her birth certificate will list names of both parents.

Florence Walker marriage Oct./Dec.1907 Dublin South volume 2 page 625
James Roche- same details

The above marriage certificate should list her father's name and occupation.
