Occupation query

I have some baptismal records from 1775-1780 in Peebles where the father is described as a taller or tallier.  Can anyone tell me what is meant here?

It's not Tailor is it? It might be worth looking at baptismal records of sibling/s to check occupation.

Thanks Ruskie.  A maker of men's clothing it would be.  One family member was a stocking maker
