Birth of Mary Elizabeth Muckvee or McVeigh
« on: Wednesday 06 July 11 15:01 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I wonder if someone can help me locate a birth record for Mary Elizabeth Muckvee about 1845 Isle of Man. ‘Muckvee’ is the spelling on her marriage certificate in Australia but on subsequent records her name is variously recorded as McVeigh, McVay or McPhee.

Her father was John (farmer) and her mother was Mary Macgee.

She was married in Australia in 1866 so she likely migrated sometime before then but I’ve been unable to locate a record of her arrival.

I’m afraid I don’t have any further information on her apart from her religion – Roman Catholic.

Any help gratefully appreciated.

Anne

no matches on my RCath bapts - there was a list of such bapts on www.iomfhs.im (follow research links) - nor can I find any match in 1851 IoM Census - many Irish moved to the Island in early 1840's - not that popular with locals and many soon emigrated elsewhere (UK or further afield)
any thing with a Manx Connection

Thanks for the tip. I’ll focus my investigation on Ireland.
