Hi there  :)

Good to see you are still working through all this, Squirejay!

Have you seen this old post here with some details on Julia http://boards.ancestry.co.uk/localities.caribbean.jamaica.general/598/mb.ashx

And this one here http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/DUMFRIES-GALLOWAY/2000-05/0959462851 Intrigued to know what the source of these notes is.

Re Ann West, from the National Probate Index (Calendar of Confirmations and Inventories), the same detail as you saw on SP index, with a figure on the value of her estate.

Anne Kennedy or West 40 Warrender Park Terrace, Edinburgh, widow of James West, Mortgage Broker in Kingston Jamaica died 10 March 1905, testate. Executor named a Duncan McLaren. Value of estate is given as £7, 10s.

A different perspective on the private income is given here

I have Anne Hall who married Hugh Kennedy, a planter of Manchester, in
Jamaica. They had a daughter Anne about 1821 who married James Edward West,
born Troqueer, Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland . She, at any rate, returned
with the children to Edinburgh about 1865 . Hre was a Banker/ Bill broker.
Anne had a private income of some substance. This was sent to me by one of
her descendants, so I have not checked anything.

In the "old days" (like last month!) you could see how many pages there were for each document in the wills & testament section, but sadly, no longer  :-\

If you use the database on SP for wills & testaments, simply add surname West and in the description field add Jamaica.

There is are a few references to the family of Stuart West such as:

West Eleanor Mrs, 20/12/1866, alias Walsh, residing at No.6 Warriston Crescent of Edinburgh, widow of Stewart West, Esquire of Kingston, Jamaica

Is Stuart connected to James Edward West maybe?

Some reading material on Eleanor Walsh here www.ucl.ac.uk/lbs/person/view/17792

I have no known connection between Stuart and Anne Kennedy.
The names do not at first look fall into any of the usual family names, but that is not real reason to discount them.
I will keep looking and hoping that several previous contact, going back a number of years, may see this and renew contact.
