St George's Church, Barnsley
« on: Friday 08 July 11 18:04 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find out more information about St George's church, Barnsley, South where various members of my Charlesworth family were christened and married.  Many of them are buried at Barnsley cemetery.

There is a website for St George's but somehow I don't think it's the one connected to my family ???

Thanks.

Hi,
Baptisms at St. George's start in 1832.
If yours start before that it's not the same church.

Hi,
All I can tell you is that I have it in My catalogue.
I don't know if it is the original church.

The original St George's Church was demolished many years ago the area now is a memorial garden and it has some orignal burials still there.

Thanks :)

I thought that might be the case.

I'm trying to build a timeline for my Charlesworth ancestors and I thought it might be nice to put something in about the churches involved in my family's life.

I think St Mary's has also gone now.

Thanks for the information Ken :)

I'll keep it for later.  There may be a connection to my branch.
