Are you descended from one of his children?  If so - can we have that child's details as we may be able to find him that way

That entry shows his birthyear as 1829 and his birthplace as something that looks like Edsteston?? - not Wem

Have you seen the 1881 death on freebmd?

Nothing on the 1861 or 1871 in Shropshire for him except that death in Atcham

I saw the death record in 1871 too and I thought that could be him as his birth date is the same but I could be wrong!

Hi

Yeah, is a bit of a puzzle...

You probably know most of this but, William's parents appear to be Richard and Ann, William b. 11 Oct 1829, as Carol pointed out. I found this on the IGI (submitted.

William is in the 1841 census with his parents and siblings, John, Mary, Ann and Edward, assuming the right family.  H107/902/3

1851 appears to fit as you say.

1861 there is a Richard Barnfield in very similar circumstances, close age, similar names at the lodgings as 1851. He could have been christened Richard William or vice versa... and may be using Richard for some reason, unless he moved out of the county. As far as I can see he had no siblings called Richard. RG9/1874/38/26.

Apart from the deaths mentioned, there was also a death in 1847 (4th 1/4), Free BMD.

Hope there is something in there to help.

Regards
Geoff
