Cruden/Ellon - Marriages JOHN LAURENSON
« on: Saturday 09 July 11 00:15 BST (UK) »
After having been looking for her baptism some years, I have just discovered that my ancestor Jean Lawrence who married William Shand in Peterhead in 1814 is in fact the Jean Laurenson who was baptised in Cruden in 1793. I am therefore now trying to trace her family.

She was the daughter of Alexander Laurenson who seems to be the one baptised in Cruden in 1747. He was the son of John Laurenson/Laurenson/Lawrence, but I am not sure of the mother.

I wonder if someone could please therefore look up the details given on the following marriages of John Laurensons:

JOHN LAURENCESON to ELSPET HAY
22 JUL 1732 Cruden, Aberdeenshire

JOHN LAWRENSON to JANET CROOKSHANK
Male Marriage: NOV 1735 Ellon, Aberdeenshire

JOHN LAURENSON to HELEN BARRACK
NOV 1752 Ellon, Aberdeenshire

Many thanks,
Jon

This query may be old, but I know know the following havng seen the marriages:

Cruden marriage 22 July 1732
JOHN LAURENCESON of Cruden married ELSPET HAY

Ellon marriage November 1735
JOHN LAWRENSON of Logie married JANET CROOKSHANK

Ellon marriage November 1752
JOHN LAURENSON married at HELEN BARRACK

I have now also seen the baptisms of John Lawrenceson's children which show at the time of his marriage he was a servant to Alexander Davidson in Braehead in Cruden.

Therefore the marriage I am looking for must be the first one and this can therefore be closed.

There is more information on this family in this thread:

Thanks,
